Reasons why I want to start a bookblog

21 januari 2016

The last few days I've been browsing the internet for blogpost and youtube videos about how to start a bookblog. Luckily, there were quite a few helpful tips, so that's how I ended up here, again.

Yes yes, I know I started this blog about a year ago, and didn't really do anything with it, but now I'm ready to commit and go for it! So here we go;

Reasons why I want to start a bookblog

1. I love books

This might be a very obvious reason, but it's probably the most important one: I love books. It's quite a serious thing actually. I spend almost all of my free time reading and watching videos about books, almost all of my money goes to my very own 'Laura is in need of books and bookish things'-fund and I talk about books a lot, which can be a bit annoying. I want this blog to be a place where I can talk about books as much as I want, and the idea of that makes me really happy.

2. I want to get better at writing in English

English isn't my native language (obviously) because I was born and raised in The Netherlands (and no, it isn't as full of drugs and cows as you might think it is). I have had English lessons in school, but I still make some mistakes, mostly grammar-wise, and I want to get better at it. So by all means, if you see a mistake in my writing or anything, please correct me. I'd be grateful.

3. Bookstagram and booktube

I tried bookstagram and booktube and they both weren't 100% my thing. Don't get me wrong, I love both of them, and I am not planning on quitting bookstagram anytime soon, but it's not my forte. I feel way more comfortable writing than I feel in front or behind the camera. When I'm writing I can let my creativity go wild (if that's even a thing) and I know what to do. I like taking pictures of books, but I am never able to get the perfect photo or setup. I think that, with this blog, I can feel good about what I do, while with taking pictures I always compare them to others and see that mine just aren't as good.

4. The community

I want to see what other people are reading and how they like it. I want to meet new people with whom I can talk about books. I want to see what other people's favorite books are. I want to see what things other people write about. Etc. I just want to be a part of the community!

I am really excited to start writing, and I hope you guys are excited to start reading my blogposts!
